The National Garden at the US
Botanic Garden opened for business on Friday, October 6, 2006. Laura Bush was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony. The project was funded solely by private donations and includes architectural features of the garden such as the First Ladies Water Garden inspired by a Martha Washington quilt, the Rose Garden, spotlighting exemplary species of the national flower, the Butterfly Garden and the Regional Garden which features plants native to the Mid-Atlantic region. |
