Description:
Renovation of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (formerly
Old Executive Office Building) was an extensive project involving
interior and exterior restoration as well as new site construction.
Notable scope features include significant exterior stone removal
and replacement; replacement and/or restoration of historic windows
including reproduction hardware throughout the building; new landscaping;
historic replication of replacement elevators; new sidewalks and
pavers.
Significantly, the entire project was completed with no disruptions
to occupants or the public and without damage to existing surfaces
and landscaping.
Project challenges included: all interior work done at night and
cleaned up so that there was no disturbance to the occupants; very
limited site space; extremely tight security and scheduling considerations;
significant renovation to building systems required substantial
coordination, surveys, and recommendations.
