Description:
Walsh Construction was awarded contracts by the Architect of the
Capitol to implement campus-wide perimeter security. Design criteria
include high security ratings as well as creative solutions to sensitive
historic surroundings. Security improvements include installation
of fixed ornamental bollards, police shelters, stone walls/planters,
and operable vehicle barriers. The project also requires replacement
of roads, curbs, and exposed aggregate walks, relocation and addition
of underground utilities including electrical, storm, sanitary,
etc., traffic control, and historic landscape preservation. Project
conditions included tight security and detailed scheduling and coordination
so as not to disrupt ongoing operations and building access.
