James V. Walsh Honored at Interfaith Concert

The InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington (IFC) named James V. Walsh as the IFC’s 27th Annual InterFaith Concert Honoree on November 14, 2006 at the historic Washington Hebrew Congregation. Created in 1978, the IFC brings together eleven historic faith communities to promote dialogue, understanding and a sense of community among persons of diverse faiths and to work cooperatively for social and economic justice in metropolitan Washington.

Walsh Nominated for MSA’s “The Jim C. Davis Award”

The Metropolitan Subcontractor Association has nominated Wm. V. Walsh Construction for the “The Jim C. Davis Award” - Outstanding General Building Contractor for Renovation & Restoration for the 2nd year in a row. The winner will be announced at the MSA’s Annual Subby Awards Banquet February 10, 2007.


Walsh Awarded National Zoo Project

Walsh was recently awarded the Asia Trail Phase II project at the National Zoo. This Smithsonian Institute project encompasses a complete renovation and expansion of the Elephant Facility and habitat. The design build project is already underway with an expected completion date of April 2011.


AGC of DC Washington Contractor Awards

The National Garden at the U.S. Botanic Garden and the Lincoln Memorial & Jefferson Memorial Design/Build Renovation Projects both received 2006 Washington Contractor Awards at the AGC of DC's Annual Awards Ceremony on October 19, 2006. The National Garden project won for New Construction while the Lincoln /Jefferson project won in both the Design/Build and Renovation / Restoration categories.

WBC Craftsmanship Awards

Walsh Construction was honored this year with multiple nominations and awards for the 2006 WBC Craftsmanship Awards for work at Arlington National Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial. ANC won in the categories of Finishes / Plaster and Special Construction for Thermal and Moisture Protection. The Lincoln Memorial Relighting Project won in the category of Electrical Lighting Systems. The WBC Craftsmanship Awards Ceremony was held on May 13, 2006 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

WVW 50th Anniversary Celebration

William V. Walsh Construction celebrated its 50th Anniversary at a gala event hosted at the JW Marriott hotel in Washington DC on December 3, 2005. Friends, family, staff, colleagues and subcontractors attended the festivities and were treated to a night to remember. CEO, James V. Walsh presented his guests with a moving tribute to his father, the late William V. Walsh, founder of Walsh Construction, recounting his father’s life and achievements. Of the many historic projects built by Walsh Construction in D.C., of particular pride to the Sr. Mr. Walsh were the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Walsh also noted his father’s philosophy that building was a professional and noble endeavor and all who participated successfully should be rewarded with a good living, recognition, and an opportunity to further oneself regardless of their station.
